Applications are welcome to 1 PhD Fellowship position. You will be working as part of the ‘Thermofluids, Combustion and Energy Systems’ Laboratory, a group that is seeking highly motivated PhD candidates who wish to pursue research in areas that contribute to new engineering concepts.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for people excited about innovation and technology, willing to develop research oriented to impact society. Preferably, you have already concluded your MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and you have previous laboratory experience. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Hydrogen combustion, Chemiluminescence, new type of burner technologies for blend fuels, experimental diagnostic techniques, and experience in Matlab, ANSYS, and/or Python programming and Fluent/Star CC+.
Fluency in written and verbal communication in English is required.
This sounds like you? We’re waiting for you!.
YOUR ROLE
You’ll integrate EcoCerâmica e Cristalaria de Portugal Agenda, a R&D collaborative project funded through the Resilience and Recovery Plan (PRR-IAPMEI) that aims to demonstrate the technical feasibility of ceramic burning/fusion technologies with low carbon content, to provide ceramics and glassware companies with technical information and concrete decisions on energy transition options towards low-carbon fuels or electrification of the burning process. With this main objective in mind, we expect your active contribution to the research and demonstration activities of the project, in particular exploring the Chemiluminescence technique in order to be used to fill the gap created by the limitation of ionization sensors for flames with excess of H2.
CONDITIONS
The award of the fellowship implies your enrolment in a PhD (until the signature of the contract). We may provide guidance/assistance on registry and supervision, if necessary.
The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal up to 36 months. A monthly maintenance allowance will be paid according to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal.
