Pedro Pontes has a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from Instituto Superior Técnico. Since 2016, he has been a member of the IN+ research center, in the Laboratory of Interfacial plus Micro-Scale Transport Phenomena, where he studies advanced cooling solutions. During his PhD, he investigated the feasibility of microchannel heat sinks and boiling with a view to their application in photovoltaic cells with solar concentration.
With experience in topics such as pool boiling, liquid cooling and numerical optimization of heat sinks, his current research focuses on the development of innovative heat sinks based on microchannels and phase change. His areas of interest include thermofluids, heat transfer and renewable energies.
