Mariana Januário holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon with a specialization in Energy.
In her master thesis, Mariana focused on analyzing and testing various decarbonization scenarios within the residential sector of Portugal. As a tool for this purpose, she developed a residential energy model at a municipal level. Now as a PhD student in Sustainable Energy Systems, Mariana is working on a multi-sectorial approach to evaluate the abatement cost of decarbonization strategies at regional scale
