Gonçalo Duarte received the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2013) from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is currently Lecturer at Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa and Assistant Researcher at IN+ Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research. His research addresses the real-world, on-road energy and environmental impacts of vehicle propulsion technologies using portable emission measurement systems (PEMS), mainly focus on on-road data analysis methods, current and future vehicle certification standards and procedures, as well as the real impacts of the transition to alternative propulsion technologies. He developed numerical and experimental tools to support on-road vehicle monitoring, covering all current available propulsion technologies, but also portable laboratories to evaluate bikers and pedestrians physiological data and surrounding air quality parameters.
