Paulo Ferrao among the 25 protagonists in the history of energy in Portugal 17/06/2026

The Energy Agency (ADENE) has released the e-book The History that writes Energy, which chronicles 25 years of energy transition in Portugal and highlights 25 key figures who have shaped the sector’s history. Paulo Ferrão is one of these key figures. Full professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico and researcher at the Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+), he has been one of the main driving forces behind industrial ecology in Portugal. He led MIT Portugal, where he established the Ph.D. program in Sustainable Energy Systems, which paved the way for strategic studies on the resilience of Portugal’s energy system. 
The publication revisits 25 years of profound transformation in Portugal’s energy sector, bringing together key figures, decisions, and pivotal moments that helped shape the evolution of public energy and environmental policies during a period marked by structural changes in the country.
