On National Scientists Day, the Streams of Knowledge lead to Happiness 13/05/2024


On 16 May, National Scientists' Day, Ciência Viva organizes in Oporto the 8th edition of the "Streams of Knowledge" conference cycle. This year the conference is curated by Alexandre Quintanilha, from Universidade do Porto, and is dedicated to the industry and science of Happiness.  

Bruce Hood, from the University of Bristol and author of the book The Science of Happiness: Seven Lessons for Living Well will be the keynote speaker and will be commented by the ambassador of Finland, Satu Suikkari-Kleven.

The National Scientists' Day was established in 2016 by a Resolution of the Portuguese parliament, to celebrate and recognize the relevant and innovative historical contribution of the scientific community to the advancement of knowledge, and thus to the progress and welfare of society. It is celebrated on 16 May, on the day of José Mariano Gago's birth, as a tribute to his legacy.

Manuel Heitor joins the commissioner at the opening session, along with the President of Ciência Viva, the Mayor of Porto, and the Secretary of State for Science.
