The winners of the 30th edition of the REN Award, one of the oldest scientific awards in Portugal, recognizing the best doctoral and master's theses in the field of energy carried out at Portuguese universities, have been announced. Among the winners is alumnus Pedro Afonso dos Santos Marques, whose research was supervised by Professor Edgar Fernandes, and who received the 3rd prize for best thesis.
The work "Development of Computed Axial Tomography Techniques to evaluate mixing processes between Natural Gas and H2" presents the development, assembly, and experimental evaluation of a system designed to assess the mixing of hydrogen and natural gas in energy applications, providing a robust method for real-time monitoring of gas mixtures, improving safety and efficiency in energy systems.
