Manuel Heitor at the EOSC Symposium 2026 15/10/2026

Manuel Heitor delivered the keynote speech at the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Symposium 2026 in Florence. “Now is the time for radical innovation”, he stated. Describing data and open science as “the grassroots of contemporary radical changes”, he urged the EOSC to play a central role in developing a distributed European research infrastructure and ecosystem that serves the public interest. Building on the success of EuroHPC, Heitor challenged the community to aggregate demand for data around urgent issues, ranging from cancer prevention to environmental resilience.
