IN+ students awarded the best Master and PhD research with an impact on Industry and Society 03/11/2023
Four IN+ students were awarded for the best academic works in the field of Mechanical Engineering with an impact on Industry and Society. Mariana Januário, Marta Massuça, Diogo Santa-Rita and Pedro Pontes were recognized, respectively, with the three best Master's dissertations and the second best PhD thesis (ex aequo).
The prizes were awarded as part of the Mechanical Engineering Department's (DEM) Industry Day, held last October 31 at Instituto Superior Técnico, where professors, researchers, students and companies from various sectors came together with a view to boosting and facilitating future cooperation between the DEM and the business community.
In this second edition of DEM Industry Day, in addition to the competition for the best pitches for master's dissertations and doctoral theses, mechanisms for collaborating on funded projects were presented, as well as pitches from companies proposing challenges, and DEM's ability to respond to business challenges and the challenges of Industry 5.0: sustainability, resilience, human-centric.

2nd place MSc (250€): Marta de Melo Massuça, Radiant Emissions In Hydrogen Enriched Flames
3rd place MSc (150€): Diogo Santa-Rita, Refitting of a Low-Swirl Burner for Ceramic Industry Applications
PhD students awarded
1st place PhD (500€): Manuel de Figueiredo Sardinha, Design and development of fused filament fabricated non-pneumatic tires
2nd place PhD ex aequo (250€): Pedro Pontes, Cooling of a HCPV panel using microchannel heat sinks
2nd place PhD ex aequo (250€): Nelson Matos, Avaliação Da Resistência Ao Impacto E Otimização Da Simulação De Compósitos Laminado
