The Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research, IN+ has developed a new online tool that allows Portuguese municipalities to monitor the country's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. MEM+ (Monitoring of Municipal Emissions) provides data on the annual and total GHG emissions of Portuguese municipalities between 2008 and 2021, including per capita values and per Gross Value Added (GVA). Users can consult emissions by sector, sub-sector, type of activity and form of energy used, allowing for detailed and comparative analysis. This tool aims to promote greater transparency and encourage sustainability actions by providing centralized data on emissions at a local level.
Developed on the BASIC Methodology of the Global Protocol for Community Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories, the platform follows recognized international standards to ensure the robustness and comparability of the data. With this initiative, IN+ aims to empower and support local authorities and society in general to make informed decisions and promote more sustainable practices.
