COP30 BikeRide: Cycling Mobility under discussion 03/10/2025

Cities for Climate and Ecomood Portugal have joined forces to promote a public debate on the 10 proposals of COP30 BikeRide to empower cycling as a tool for climate protection. The event will take place under the High Patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Energy. This meeting in Lisbon will be a key moment for linking sustainable mobility to the fight against climate change, showing that every pedal stroke can contribute to a future with less carbon and a better quality of life.

COP30 BikeRide is a citizen initiative that seeks to highlight the importance and potential of cycling mobility in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector. In addition, it aims to mobilize global action at the national, regional, and municipal levels so that concrete measures to promote cycling are included in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). With routes running through Africa, America, Europe, and Asia, COP30 BikeRide brings together cyclists from 16 countries. All Eurasian routes converge in Lisbon between October 2 and 5, before the symbolic departure by sea to Belém (Brazil) to participate in COP30.

The Cities for Climate Network is a collaborative initiative, without legal personality, with the mission to support Portuguese cities and regions in their effort to accelerate the transition to climate neutrality, in alignment with the European Mission “The 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030, by and for the citizens”. The Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+) acts as Technical Secretariat at the service of the cities and regions that make up the Cities for Climate network, supporting them in the actions and projects that are part of their transition process to climate neutrality.

The meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Portugal Pavilion, Parque das Nações, in Lisbon.
