On October 1st, the book “Design Thinking: From Inspiration to Innovation”, written by Guilherme Victorino and Joana Mendonça, will be launched at the Beato Creative Hub. The event will be hosted by Rui Borges (CEO of Plot Agency), Miguel de Castro Neto (Director of NOVA IMS) and Rogério Colaço (President of Instituto Superior Técnico).
The book is essential reading for innovators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, students and teachers who want to harness the potential of design thinking to drive significant change. This book takes readers on a journey from the fundamental principles of design thinking to its practical application in real-life scenarios, with a special focus on innovation in Portugal.
With a practical and accessible approach, the book offers concrete strategies for implementing design thinking in various sectors, such as companies, startups, public administration and education. By combining theory with real examples, “Design Thinking: From Inspiration to Innovation” becomes a valuable guide to turning ideas into value. “Design thinking is not just a set of tools - it's a mindset that transforms the way we face problems and create innovation,” says Guilherme Victorino, professor at NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS) and co-author of the book.
As well as practical strategies, the book is designed to inspire confidence in readers, encouraging them to experiment, collaborate and innovate. Joana Mendonça, professor at Instituto Superior Técnico and co-author, adds: “We wanted to create something more than just a manual - this book challenges innovators to explore the possibilities of design thinking, boost empathy and generate impact in their organizations and in society.”
Aimed at a wide audience, this book is an essential resource for anyone wishing to develop creative solutions and tackle complex challenges through a human-centered approach.
