Mohammadreza Modarres

Former Researcher Thermofluids, Combustion and Energy Systems

“Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world.” Louis Pasteur
MohammadReza Modarres is currently pursuing his Ph.D. studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Centre for Innovation, Technology, and Policy Research (IN+), Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. The main focus of his studies is on hybrid rocket propulsion.
He accomplished his Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering – Propulsion at Sharif University of Technology (national top and leading institution for engineering and physical sciences), and his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering – Fluids and Heat Transfer, Iran. His bachelor's thesis was about knock analysis in OM457 diesel engine with a special focus on fuel system plumbing, and engine main features with the main goal in pollution control.  In his masters, regarding his opulent interest In combustion and propulsion systems, he conducted his studies in combustion phenomenon in chambers and incinerators. A mutual correlation between university and industry made him more familiar with computational methods and algorithms applied in industrial case studies. Engaging with his thesis, he could publish his unique idea with his supervisor (Prof. Dr. Masoud Darbandi) in 10th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, HEFAT-2014, Orlando-Florida. His paper which was presented by Professor Dr. Gerry E. Schneider (University of Waterloo - Canada), won the distinguished paper award in Computational Fluid Dynamics.
His M.Sc. thesis which was mainly about the Chemical Reactor Networks and coupling with CFD studies by segmentation of the flow field into the reactors, inspired by the flow field topology with a new segmentation methodology, won the best thesis award in country in Aerospace Engineering, and he was appreciated by the head of the Iranian Aerospace Society for his nationwide honor.
