Technology Management & Policy - MP Graduate Consortium

We are pleased to announce the organization of the 2006 Technology, Management and Policy Graduate Consortium Annual Meeting, which will be held at IST, in the city of Lisboa, from June 25 to June 27, 2006.

We are aiming for the informal and intimate quality of previous consortium meetings, so participation will be limited to invited guests. The specifics of registration for the conference will be sent to invitees directly.

As in all previous meetings, our thematic basis is the presentation of research topics in the area of technology, management & policy. Past topics have included, for example, (a) technological developments for environmental management and economic development, (b) assessment of technologies, strategies and policies at either the company or national/regional levels, and (c) case studies and evaluation of emerging technologies.

Important dates for participants
  1. Abstract submission was postponed to April 30th. We ask that these abstracts are pre-screened and submitted by the student’s program or institution, rather than directly from the students. We also request that each abstract is accompanied by a brief description of the student, including her/his expected degree and graduation date.   2. Notification of presentation/poster acceptance will be delivered in the beginning of May.

  3. Registration and accommodation forms will be due on: May 12. (Note: You must request rooms by May 10th to guarantee the special rate – see below.)

  4. Detailed guidelines (time allocated, presentation and poster formats, computer file formats for submissions, etc.) will be sent to student attendees in the beginning of May.

  5. Presentation/poster submission deadline (in order to be included in the conference CD-ROM): June 9.
We look forward to accommodating student participation in either oral or poster sessions. The latter option is available to students who may be at earlier stages in their research. Both classes of sessions are designed to offer participants the opportunity to share their research results and to get feedback about their research plans.

For those who are interested, a Lisbon tour will be offered on Sunday (June is a good month for sightseeing in Lisbon). Please let us know by May 12 if you would like to participate. Details on the agenda for the Sunday event will be forthcoming.

During the meeting, the IST is happy to provide lunches, coffee breaks and a dinner Monday night. Travel, accommodation, other meals and optional tourist activities will be the responsibility of individual participants or their home departments.

We have set aside a block of rooms between June 25th and June 28th at two hotels within walking distance of the meeting location:

  2. The Hotel A. S. Lisboa (http://www.hotel-aslisboa.com/) for 50.05 euros (single occupancy) or 55.52 euros (2 twin beds).
