Sílvia Castro is the Executive Director MIT Portugal Program - a strategic partnership from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia between Portuguese Universities and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She ensures the correct implementation of the MIT Portugal Program strategic objectives and promotes the interaction with the various stakeholders including industrial and academic partners. Previously, she was the Communications and Graduate Programs Director at MIT Portugal Program and a post-doc fellow in science communication at the biomedical research institute - Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC). Sílvia Castro holds a PhD in Developmental Neurosciences by University College London (2008)- She graduated in Biochemistry at University of Porto (2001) and enrolled at the Graduate Program in Areas of Basic and Applied Biology (GABBA) (2001). She is an invited lecture at science communications courses and workshops, an external review for Royal Academy of Engineering outreach projects and one the co–founders and Vice-President of the Portuguese Science Communication Association “Rede ScicomPT.
