Fernanda Margarido has a PhD degree in Materials Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (Technical University of Lisbon). She is Associate Professor at IST/UL, on the scientific area of Environment and Energy of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. She is also researcher at the Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+). She is the Coordinator of the Waste Processing and Management Laboratory, IN+, leading a research group on Materials Recycling of Wastes and End-of-Life Products. She has been supervisor of 5 PhD thesis, and 22 Master thesis. She was co- editor of 3 books and 3 chapters of books
She has been the Principal Researcher of several National and International projects in the field of recycling of wastes and end-of-life products. This research has been published in different papers in international conferences(35) and journals (47).
She has been associated-Editor of the International Journal of Mining, Materials & Metallurgical Engineering (IJMMME) (Open Acess), Avestia Editors, since 2014.
She organized several courses on post-graduation and professional qualifications and is a member of scientific council of IN+.
She was member of the organizing and scientific committee of several international congresses, and has been the representative of IN + / IST in the Coalition for Green Growth, of the Ministry of the Environment since 2016.
