Delft-Lisbon student exchange in Technology, Policy and Management TU-Delft/TPM and IST-Lisbon/EP&MT have agreed on a student exchange programme in which two Portuguese and two Dutch students will be comparing policy-making between Portugal and The Netherlands on the following four subjects: 1) National government policy on the promotion and development of wind energy, more specifically its incentives on private and semi-public players involved in this field, and the impact this has had in the past on the activities, and the impact it will have in the future. A systematic Portugal-Netherlands comparison. Probably including one or two significant case studies in both countries that show how the institutional mechanisms work and what interaction and investment processes it leads to. 2) National government policy on the promotion and development of solar energy, more specifically its incentives on private and semi-public players involved in this field, and the impact this has had in the past on the activities, and the impact it will have in the future. A systematic Portugal-Netherlands comparison. Probably including one or two significant case studies in both countries that show how the institutional mechanisms work and what interaction and investment processes it leads to. 3) A comparison between two Portuguese and two Dutch cities that can be seen as pioneers in the implementation of the concept of entrepreneurial cities. What are their respective philosophies, what industrial sectors do they focus on? How do they provide the right incentives for companies to settle at the right place and to achieve synthesis amongst each other? 4) A comparison between two Portuguese and two Dutch cities that can be seen as pioneers in the implementation of the concept of sustainable cities. What are their respective philosophies, what policies have they formulated, how do they approach different industrial sectors? How do they provide the right incentives for companies to settle at the right place and to act in environmentally sustainable ways?
