António Miguel Henriques
As an Aerospace student, I have always searched for activities that could fulfill my interest for engineer. At IST I was part of the team that built the first Portuguese hydrogen powered vehicle that raced on Shell Eco-Marathon 2009. This experience pushed me to engage in new adventures: I decided to do an internship at Von Karman Institute, in Belgium, to work on a nanoparticle project. During that time, it was clear to me the advantages of internships, so I return to Portugal and spontaneously applied to TAP Maintenance & Engineer, where I have stayed for half a year working on turbine engines test cell department. Following this challenge, I was decided to complete my Master Thesis on a research environment, at IN+, working for one year on a chemiluninescence project. The ability to work guided by objectives, developed during thesis, is now being usefull to work as Powerplant engineer at TAP, a position I was invited for! The main thought? If we don’t try, we will never know if we could do it or not!!
