Renewing the approach to renewals: microfluidic solutions to enhance the energy conversion in solar panels 09/11/2018


Friday, November 9, at 4 p.m., will take place in room V0.15, the seminar Renewing the approach to renewals: microfluidic solutions to enhance the energy conversion in solar panels, lectures by Ana Moita from IN+, under the series of Seminars on Sustainable Energy Systems.

Photovoltaic technology has strongly evolved within the last years, with the swift development of innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. In this context several strategies are being developed, focusing on improving energy conversion efficiency of solar cells – one of the most relevant remaining issues stalling a broader implementation of solar energy conversion solutions. This seminar revises several of these strategies, from more conventional approaches to innovative micro-and-nanoscale solutions, discussing the advantages and limitations of the various strategies and their implementation. Besides analysing the technology and its impact on the working conditions of the solar panel, design parameters and manufacturing techniques and an overall evaluation of the payback time are also addressed in the presented case studies.
