Objectives:
To discuss current initiatives at T.U Delft in the area of Engineering and Ecodesign with emphasis on Industrial Design Curriculum Development, Design for Sustainable Products and Sustainable Systems Design. Particular emphasis will be given to emerging trends on sustainable mobility, with the discussion to be oriented in terms of perspectives and opportunities for Portugal.

Session 1 - Sustainable Mobility: Trends and Policies

This session will focus on the different trends for mobility and current patterns to promote sustainable mobility in Europe. Different experiences in Europe and US will be analyzed and the discussion will focus on the type of diversified actions to be implemented in terms of the specificities of actors and of the institutional framework.

Session 2: Engineering Design: Which needs and specific competences to be developed?

This session will focus on lessons learned from current practice of engineering design education and research. Speakers will look at past and emerging forms of developing design capacity for product development, including University-Industry Partnerships on engineering design, as well as at the expected impact of promoting those partnerships on economic growth.
